Our Team
Isabella and Ben are the co-founders of 'The Long Rest' and are graduates of the University of Kent. - Between them, they have over ten years of experience in the hospitality industry.

When they aren't playing board games or running The Long Rest, they can often be found making their way through escape rooms and LARPing in muddy fields. (So far, they have completed over 30 escape rooms together if you are interested!)

Canterbury has a number of excellent cafes and hospitality venues and they designed 'The Long Rest' to join those venues, as well as adding a space for social activities that is missing not only in Canterbury but within the East Kent area.

Our Aims
Our goals are defined by values we've called 'the three C's':
​
1. Comfort: We aim to create a welcoming and comfortable venue for any person who comes to visit us.
​
2. Customer service: A cafe is nothing without knowledgeable and helpful staff, and we hope to provide high quality service at all times.
​
3. Community: our goal is to become a hub for social activity and welcome within the city for friends and families alike.
​
We offer a healthy library of board games for customers to peruse and enjoy at their leisure. However, you are welcome to bring your own games, or use our space for your own activities.

As gaming enthusiasts ourselves, we are thrilled to be contributing to the community in Canterbury, and we hope you will continue to join us on our journey.
