Do I need to book a table?
You do not need to book a table to visit our cafe. However, we recommend bookings for large groups to guarantee a table for your visit.
Is there a charge for visiting The Long Rest ?
We apply a cover charge for the table at different rates depending on the length of your visit, and if you use our table space for gaming. The rates are highlighted below:
One hour: £2.50 per person
Two hours £5.00 per person
Three hours: £6.50 per person
If you do not play any games during your visit, we will not charge you for the first hour of your visit.
Why am I being charged £6.50 per person when I make a booking ?
Every booking covers a 3-hour stay within our cafe, and gives you unlimited access to our library of board games. If you would like to make a booking, but want to change the duration of your stay, please contact us through our website, on social media or at admin@thelongrest.co.uk.
What if nobody on my table orders food & drink during our visit?
If nobody on your table orders any food or drinks for the duration of your visit, we will apply a surcharge of £3.50 per person. However, this surcharge will not be applied once you order something to eat/drink. As a small independent business, we would love visitors to order from our menu, and we have a wide range of food & drinks for you to enjoy during your visit.
Do I have to play the games in your library ?
Absolutely not! You are more than welcome to bring your own games to our cafe - if you would like to know about the games we currently have in our library, feel free to get in contact with us.
Do I have to play board games when I visit ?
Absolutely not! You are more than welcome to join us just for food and drink, or you are welcome to bring your own hobbies with you. However, the cover charge will still apply if you stay at the cafe for an extended period of time.
I am part of a club and want to use your cafe to host an event - would that be possible?
We are open to any clubs and groups that would like to use our cafe space, and would love to hear from you! If you are interested, get in touch through our website, on social media or at thelongrest.co.uk.
Do you cater for food intolerances/allergies?
We do our best to cater to food intolerances/allergens, and are able to make substitutions where possible - we also have a range of vegan options. If you are unsure, please get in contact with us.
What are your memberships?
Our memberships are for regular customers who want to get more out of their visits to the cafe. Each membership is different in order to cater to your specific needs, and all memberships include discounts for visiting the cafe. More information about our memberships can be found on the 'Memberships' page of the website.
How often will I be charged for my Membership?
You will be charged on a monthly basis for your Membership.

Does your cafe have accessible tables?
We have accessible seating on the ground floor. However, due to the nature of the building, the majority of our tables & game library is only accessible via staircases. There is also a step up into the cafe at the entrance, and at the moment we do not have an entrance ramp. If you would like to know whether the café can suit your needs, please get in touch with us.
Does your cafe have accessible toilets?
Our toilets are located on the first floor of the building. The nearest accessible toilets can be found at the Roman museum opposite the café.
Is your cafe dog friendly?
Absolutely! As long as your dogs are well-behaved (and able to navigate stairs!), we are happy to welcome your four-legged friends.
